Signal Challenge Terms
The Signal Challenge is a promotional interactive experience connected with Gulf of Aden.
Entry
No purchase is necessary. Participants register a name, city, country and email address. Each email address is eligible for five recorded alignment attempts. The highest eligible score from those first five recorded attempts is retained. Additional attempts created by clearing browser data, changing devices, using multiple registrations for the same person, automation or other circumvention may be excluded.
Scoring
Alignment is calculated from the timing of the participant’s taps against the signal interval. Scores are shown to three decimal places. The experience is designed to make very high alignment scores uncommon. Technical failure, tampering, automated input or corrupted timing data may invalidate an attempt.
Node identity
A participant is allocated an eight-digit Node number derived from the registered email address. The same email should therefore resolve to the same Node number. The Node number is an experience identifier and is not intended as a public account credential.
Prize
If Gulf of Aden reaches production, the highest verified eligible participant is intended to receive a special production-related prize from writer-director Steven James Garry. Final prize details, eligibility requirements, closing date, verification procedure and any necessary production-access conditions will be published before a winner is selected. No prize is guaranteed unless and until those final terms are published and the stated production condition is met.
Data
Name, city, country, email address, Node number, attempt number, alignment score and timing data may be recorded for administering the challenge, checking eligibility, maintaining results and contacting a potential winner. The information is not collected for mailing-list marketing through this form. Participants should not submit information on behalf of another person.
Fair use
Attempts produced through scripts, bots, timing automation, manipulated requests, duplicate identities or other methods intended to defeat the five-attempt limit may be removed. Where a dispute arises, the recorded submission data and these rules will be used to determine eligibility.
These provisional challenge terms may be updated before any prize winner is selected to include final eligibility, dates and prize details.
